How Much Would It Cost You 3D Printing Your Home in Australia?

Each and every time that something innovative is coming our way, we can always anticipate that they will come with a corresponding price tag. For instance, the very first time that large concrete 3-dimensional printing machines came out in the market, they would come to us at a very hefty amount. Only a handful of select industries can afford to acquire one.

But much like any other technology that has come and gone, prices will soon go down the moment that new and much better technology comes along. In addition to what will likely make prices go down are the new and innovative concrete mixes.

When it comes to 3D printing a house, there is a manifold of things and factors that come into play here.

Hence, it is impossible to come up with an accurate amount as to how much a 3D printed house would cost nowadays. But here are some of the recent examples of 3D printed homes, and we say are promising projects so far, together with their reported prices.

A Texas-based company by the name of ICON spearheaded the project of building a house using additive manufacturing method a couple of years ago. The area of specialization for this construction firm is the development of low-cost construction solutions. Hence, they considered the said 3D printed house as their flagship project.

In partnership with a non-profit organization, ICON has this vision of building an entire neighborhood in El Salvador comprising only low-cost 3D printed homes. Needless to say, they are making it their goal to provide housing opportunities to people who can’t afford to have an appropriate living condition on their own.

The prototype alone for a house (that is 3D printed) would command a whopping amount of $10,000. Yet ICON is making a high claim that they can make this amount go down to as much as $4000. Building time, they reckon, is approximated to go around 24 hours only, more or less.

In China, there is another exceptional work that involves 3D technology for printing homes. There is this company from Shanghai, called Winsun, that became a household name among the locals in 2014 due to their awesome feat. Expert minds in the construction sphere consider the said project as a qualified tour de force feat after creating 10 individual houses using 3-dimensional printing technology in just 17 days.

The company made use of large concrete 3-dimensional printing machines for this purpose alone. The 3D printing equipment is said to be around 6.6 meters tall, and 10 meters wide. The organizing committee from this company asserted that each unit of their 3D printed house cost $4800. During that time, in 2014, this amount was still seen by industry experts as considerably low. Therefore, it is a practical option even then.

But even though these 3D printed houses were not as refined as they should be, the project still successfully stirred a lot of public interest. Needless to say, it made a significant impact on the rise of 3D printed houses in the country as well as in the increased demand for additive printing machines that are designed to make them.

To wrap up this article, we want to inform you also about what is considered today as the most sophisticated 3D printing structure in the globe. This has something to do with the futuristic office building and this one can be found in no other than Dubai, the home of some of the most innovative buildings of the modern world.

Winsun spent only 17 days to complete the entire project. And the structure was way grander in scale and, is thus, considered more expensive at around $140,000.
